Beyond Bread: Why Are You Following? The Heart of True Discipleship

In John 6:26, Jesus addresses a crowd that followed Him, saying, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.” This profound moment highlights the reality that many sought Jesus for provision rather than transformation. They desired bread for their stomachs, not the eternal bread of life. When Jesus revealed deeper truths, teaching that His body was the true bread, many walked away, some even expressing their anger. However, Peter responded differently when Jesus asked the twelve if they too would leave. Peter’s answer resonates through time: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).

Peter’s declaration signifies a recognition that what Jesus offered went beyond material provision—it was life itself. In ministry, we often encounter similar dynamics. Many follow men and women of God, seeking breakthroughs, provision, or access to resources. While God provides for His people, there is a deeper work He desires to do—a work of transformation.

Reflecting on my journey as a servant of God, I’ve experienced the pain of seeing individuals walk away just when their breakthroughs were imminent. One story stands out: a woman who followed my ministry for a year suddenly disconnected. Two years later, God instructed me to reach out to her. I obeyed, sharing a prophetic word and praying for her. Within a week, she experienced a life-altering breakthrough. This incident underscored a sobering truth: many people, like those in John 6, seek the “bread” but miss the transformation God intends.

Consider the story of Saul in 1 Samuel 9–10. Saul went to the prophet Samuel searching for his father’s lost donkeys. However, God’s plan for Saul extended far beyond the donkeys. Through Samuel, Saul received not only direction about the donkeys but a prophetic impartation that transformed him. The Bible says, “God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day” (1 Samuel 10:9). Saul’s journey illustrates how connecting with God’s servants often begins with immediate needs but is meant to lead to deeper transformation.

Transformation requires patience and surrender. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” The disciples who remained with Jesus—Peter, John, James, and others—experienced this transformation. Their waiting and commitment bore fruit, as they became foundational pillars of the early church.

Today, I extend an invitation to you. If you’ve been following this ministry, it’s not by coincidence. God is calling you to go deeper. This is an opportunity to step into transformation, not merely provision. I am opening my life to mentor and walk alongside those who are hungry for the deeper truths of God. Through the School of the Supernatural, you will learn, grow, and discover how to operate in the fullness of what God has for you. This mentorship will include teaching on interpreting dreams, spiritual growth, and practical ways to walk in your God-given purpose.

For those interested, I am providing access to WhatsApp groups tailored to your nation. These groups will be a space for mentorship, prayer, and encouragement. It is my prayer that you would echo Peter’s words: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” Let us journey together toward transformation and fruitfulness in Christ.
