Called To Be Fruitful
There is a famous line from the Bible: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forthfruit, and that your fruit should remain.” God called us from the world and ordained us to be fruitful. The word ordained is synonymous with the word appoint, meaning God predestined us to be fruitful, before he called you, he already had an individual plan for you.
When someone is fruitful, they are productive, which means they produce from every effort they make or action they take. Productivity is measured by what you produced compared to what you put in. You cannot beproductive without effort and inputting something. God called you to produce, but what is your input?
Fruitfulness is a result of active efforts. Don’t expect fruits in an area you never invested in. Fruits come from what you have put. At times, as believers we are too lazy to work and assume just because God said it, then it will manifest. But what effort are you making towards the fulfilment of that word God spoke over your life?
When God ordained you to produce, he put in you the ideas and the strength needed to accomplish those tasks. The secret is to be active. Abraham was told: “Get out among your people and go to the land that I have prepared for you.” But surprisingly, God never came back with a map. Abraham just walked towards Canaan and as he walked, it seemed he was walking towards God’s promised land.
Sometimes all you need is to start and act, if Abraham had waited, he would not have inherited the promise of God for his life. When God promisesfruitfulness in every aspect of your life through a scripture or a prophecy, it is necessary for you to work towards it. Don’t wait and think if God promised it, it will automatically happen. Do something.Abraham could have remained among his kinsmen because God had not given him a specific roadmap but through faith, he walked towards the promise of God for his life.
God chose you and ordained you to be fruitful, but it is your responsibility through faith to act and manifest that word for your life.
In John 15, God is compared to a gardener and he at times prunes away anything that stops us from producing. When he told Abraham to leave his kinsmen, he was pruning them from his life so that Abraham could become productive. It was not easy because he was commanded to walk away from his family and things he was used to.
Those that are fruitful sacrificed and worked towards the fruits they now bear in their lives. The question is: what are you willing to do in order to inherit God’s word for your life and even his call to be fruitful? The scriptures speak about a slothful man who sleeps and poverty pounces on him like a band of robbers. Don’t allow a single moment to pass or a day to go by without depositing something for you to accomplish God’s word for your life.
We are called to fruitfulness, but it seems those that are willing to work for it are the ones that qualify to inherit that word and fulfill God’s dream for increase and prosperity.
