Sustaining A New Season

As the season of fasting concludes, reflect on the extraordinary works God has accomplished your life through these prayers. This period of spiritual renewal has elevated many to a new level of purpose and clarity, reminding them of the call to dwell in the presence of God and sustain His blessings.

The mountain, often symbolic of divine elevation, represents a life where one functions at their highest potential in ministry, career, family, or business. It is a place without restrictions, immersed in God’s presence. The psalmist writes, “Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?” (Psalm 15:1). This question sets the stage for a deeper reflection on the qualities needed to remain steadfast in God’s high places.

Integrity is foundational. To walk uprightly means to live a life of consistency and moral character, as emphasized in “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity” (Proverbs 11:3). Those who keep their promises, even when it hurts, embody true integrity, as seen in the story of Jephthah, who fulfilled his vow to the Lord despite personal loss (Judges 11:30-40).

Righteousness is equally essential. A righteous person aligns their life with God’s will, striving to live undivided and faithful. “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take” (Psalm 1:1). This highlights the importance of choosing companions wisely and refraining from the company of those who would lead them astray.

Respecting others and refraining from evil are also key attributes. “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31) reminds us to act in kindness and humility toward all, while avoiding gossip or harm. The psalmist further calls for honoring those who fear the Lord, stating, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops” (Proverbs 3:9), a principle that extends beyond finances to include honoring godly people in our lives.

The call to help the disadvantaged resonates throughout Scripture. “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done” (Proverbs 19:17). A life lived on God’s mountain is one where resources are used to uplift others, never exploiting or taking advantage of the weak.

The psalmist concludes with a promise: “Whoever does these things will never be shaken” (Psalm 15:5). This assurance of steadfastness is the reward for those who embody the qualities of integrity, righteousness, and compassion.

As this season of fasting draws to a close, pray with gratitude and commitment: “Father, thank You for bringing us to the mountain. Help us to sustain what You have done in our lives. May we walk in integrity, righteousness, and compassion, remaining steadfast in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
